Loss of Luggage After Travel

Imagine that you have had a long and tiring flight. Maybe you are excited about coming to a famous city that you will see for the first time, or maybe you came to your hometown from abroad and are dying to see your relatives. With these intense and mixed feelings, you stood at the airport's conveyor belt and began to wait. However, after long minutes, your suitcase did not arrive. You realize that all your personal belongings, camera or valuables have been lost. Because of the stress and sadness you experience at that moment, you should definitely not make a wrong move and manage the process correctly in order to compensate your loss.

Article 108 – Carrier; Carrying passenger's luggage and accompanying personal belongings

It is obliged to carry it free of charge in accordance with the conditions determined in the contract.

  Article 121 – In case of loss or damage to the registered baggage or cargo, the carrier is responsible for the damage if the event that caused the damage occurred during the carriage by air.

  Carriage by air within the meaning of the first paragraph; It covers the period during which the baggage or cargo is under the custody and custody of the carrier at an airport or in an aircraft or if it lands outside the airport. The provisions of article 781 of the Turkish Commercial Code are applied for the cargo.

The first thing you should do after making sure that your luggage is lost is to keep your calm. Because the smallest mistake will make it difficult for you to get all your rights. After making sure that your luggage is lost, never leave the area where the luggage was delivered. When you look around you will see a "Lost & Founds" sign. Go to the office immediately and tell them that your luggage has not been delivered. Also show your flight ticket, passport or ID and baggage receipt to the authorized person. The baggage receipt will create the presumption that your baggage has been received by the authorized person of the airline company.

Afterwards, the ''PIR'' report will be prepared. ''(Property Irregularity Report): It is a baggage failure report that is issued in case the baggage is under the responsibility of the airline or the baggage does not reach the destination station with the passenger, missing or damaged the goods in it.
